Alumni Team at Big Event 2018!
Big Event is a staple of the OU community each spring. Students come together to make volunteer teams and take advantage of the opportunity to give back to the community. They give back to the community that has supported the University and its students. Up to now, this has been an exclusively student-centered event. An event built by students and for students.
As a student, I attended the Big Event each year. It gave me the opportunity to become closer to my friends that volunteered with me and the communities of the University of Oklahoma and the City. We refurbished parks in local communities, built storage for disaster-stricken areas, and restored outreach centers to better serve the community. Working alongside old friends and new friends to better our community gave me a sense of pride that couldn’t be matched the rest of the year.
From our time at OU, many of you had the opportunity to participate in Big Event as well. For the first time as an alum, Big Event is inviting you to come back to our alma mater to volunteer alongside the OU students or as a part of your new OU community in your new city. This is an opportunity to represent the University, once again.
Regional Volunteers:
If you cannot make it back to Norman for this amazing opportunity, consider joining the Big Event team in your new city. Simply contact your OU Alumni Club and ask about the Big Event Volunteer Opportunity. Each club will be coordinating a volunteer project on the same day as the Big Event is taking place in Norman. That's right, we're going global!
